Slides & playlists
How screens, playlists and the content library fit together — and how to make the right thing show at the right time.
The three layers
- Library — reusable content: announcements, events, hadith, Qur'an verses, images, YouTube livestreams and campaign appeals. Edit a library item once and every slide using it updates.
- Playlists — ordered lists of slides that rotate on screen. Each playlist has its own theme override if you want a different look for Ramadan or Jumu'ah.
- Screens — each TV is a screen with a layout (Board, Stage, Grid, Clock), an orientation, and a default playlist.
Schedules — the right playlist at the right time
A screen can switch playlists automatically with schedule rules, evaluated on the screen every few seconds:
- Time windows — e.g. a "Late night" playlist from 10 pm to 4 am.
- Prayer alerts — e.g. switch to a "Please pray" playlist from adhan until a few minutes after jamaat, on chosen days and prayers — including Jumu'ah.
Rules have priorities; the highest-priority active rule wins, otherwise the screen's default playlist plays. Individual slides can also have "when to show" filters inside a playlist.
Urgent notices
Notices (Admin → Notices) sit above the playlist rotation: an urgent notice — a janazah, a closure — takes over the screen until it expires, then the normal rotation resumes.
Themes
Five built-in looks — Midnight, Andalus, Ottoman, Sahara and Minimal — set per masjid, per screen or per playlist, with your own colours on top. Portrait screens rotate the whole layout.
Built-in slide types
Alongside text, images and video there are automatic types — pick them in the Library or Slides “Add” picker and they fill themselves in:
- Get the app — a QR for your masjid's public page plus “Scan · Open · Add to Home Screen”; congregants scan it for prayer times, Jumu'ah, announcements and giving that work offline. The same QR and a printable A4 poster live under Admin → Widgets.
- Jumu'ah times — “Show Jumu'ah khutbah & jamaat times during the week”: lists every Jumu'ah slot with its label, khutbah and jamaat — the way to show them mid-week (on Fridays the TV's prayer table takes over).
- Next prayer countdown, Today's timetable, Verse of the day, Clock & date, Masjid details — live tiles that update themselves.
The connection icon
Each screen's settings have a Connection icon toggle — a small, quiet indicator in the corner: Wi-Fi or Ethernet on a linked Pi, a dot for browser players while synced, and a crossed-out glyph if the connection drops. On by default so a dying network is spotted before jamaat.
Live preview
Every screen and slide editor has a live preview that shows exactly what the TV will render — including unsaved changes, which show a "Previewing unsaved changes" badge until you save. Previews never mark a screen as online.
