Set up your masjid

From sign-up to a live screen and a public page in about ten minutes — donations unlock once your masjid is verified.

1. Start the wizard

Go to wemasjid.com/start and work through the seven steps. Everything you enter can be changed later from the dashboard.

  1. Your masjid — name, address and postcode. We look up the location for prayer-time calculation.
  2. Prayer times — calculated from your location, or imported from your existing timetable spreadsheet.
  3. Charity — whether you're a registered or excepted charity, which enables Gift Aid.
  4. Facilities — wudu, women's prayer space, parking and the rest, shown on your public page.
  5. Screens — create your first screen and get its 6-character pairing code.
  6. Verify — upload one committee document (see below). Optional now; required before donations switch on.
  7. Review — check it all and finish. You land in your dashboard.

2. Connect a screen

Three ways to put a TV on: a Raspberry Pi boots to a PIN you enter under Screens → Link a device; a smart TV or Fire Stick shows a pairing code you confirm in the dashboard; or just open wemasjid.com/display in any browser and type the 6-character code. See Connect a screen — the Screens page then shows a live thumbnail of each TV.

3. Verification — why we ask

To protect masajid from impersonation we check that you're on the committee before donations can be switched on. Upload one of:

  • a utility bill in the masjid's name,
  • a Charity Commission letter,
  • committee minutes or a letter on masjid letterhead, or
  • a bank letter in the masjid's name.

PDF, JPG or PNG up to 10 MB, from the wizard or later in Settings → Verification. We review every submission by hand and email you the outcome — usually within a working day.

You don't need to wait: screens and your public page work straight away. Verification only gates connecting Stripe for donations.

4. Switch on giving

Once verified, open Giving and connect Stripe — the masjid's own account, so donations never pass through ours. Then share a fund's QR poster or embed the giving widget on your website. See Giving.
