Connect a screen
Every TV is a “screen” in the dashboard. Connect it whichever way suits the hardware — a managed Raspberry Pi, a pairing code on a smart TV or Fire Stick, or just a browser.
Three ways to connect
- Raspberry Pi (WeMasjid OS) — boots to a 6-digit PIN. Enter it under Screens → Link a device, in Add screen → Device PIN, or on the screen's page via Connect → Raspberry Pi. Most reliable — updates and Wi-Fi are managed remotely.
- Smart TV / Fire TV / Android TV — our app (or the built-in browser) opens wemasjid.com/display and shows a pairing code. On the screen's page, Connect → Smart TV / browser shows the code big, plus a QR and a direct link you can open on the TV.
- Any browser — same pairing code at wemasjid.com/display. Good for a spare laptop or a quick test on your own machine.
The Connect button
Open any screen that isn't online (Screens → the screen) and the header shows a Connect button. It covers both paths: a field for a Pi's PIN, and the pairing code + QR + link for smart TVs and browsers — so everything you need is one click away.
Online statuses
- Online (green) — the TV checked in within the last five minutes.
- Device online · display not reporting (amber) — a linked Pi is checking in but the picture side isn't. Usually the kiosk is mid-restart or the HDMI input is off; give it a minute, then try Restart display.
- Offline (grey) — nothing heard for a while.
- Not yet connected — the screen exists but nothing has ever paired to it.
A connected Pi counts the screen as online even while the browser tab is refreshing — the status reflects whichever heartbeat is freshest.
Live snapshots
The Screens page shows a live thumbnail of each display — the actual timetable as it renders on the TV, scaled down. Thumbnails load as you scroll (a few at a time, so a masjid with many screens stays snappy) and never mark a screen online by themselves.
